I'm planning on going to opening day this year. Since this is my first year with a platinum pass and my first trip on opening day what are some tips. What gate should I use and where do I get dropped off at? What time to get there before nine? How crowded will it be?
Thanks! _________________ Too Fast For You...Top Thrill 120mph

Opening day can be a mixed bag. The crowd is usually a little heavy. If there are a ton of school bands playing it can be really packed. The coaster crews don't have all the intervals down so the lines run a little longer than normal.
Being there at opening is going to put you in before the main crowd arrives. Even during peak periods you can ride like crazy in the first hour the park is open. Depending on what you want to ride would depend on what entrance. A ton of people like to be at the side entrance near the Marina. That puts you close to MF. If you want to do the Dragster first then enter a the resort entrance.
Some people swear by that. To be honest it really has never made a bit of difference for me. If the crowd runs and gets in line your probably about 4-6 trains back if you walk a normal pace. You'd end up waiting 10 minutes.
I used to get in the park early all the time and sit and watch the running of the bulls from the main gate. Then I would walk back and just about walk on Maverick.
I won't get to go opening day this year. I hope to get there soon. |
