Maverick Opens and Magnum Has An Accident

There were mixed blessings today for Cedar Point. The new Maverick coaster thrilled coaster fans today for the first time. There was a brief ribbon cutting by Cedar Fairs CEO and Cedar Point's President. Cedar Point was giving away 3000 Maverick T-Shirts to the first 3000 riders. Unfortunately the weather was not that great today. Rain poured down on riders today who seemed to really love Maverick.

Now for the bad news of the day. It appears that one of the Magnum trains either failed to stop or was released early from the last break run before the Magnum station. It's reported that the coaster bumped the coaster in the station injuring 3 passengers. One was taken to the hospital.

Now for the really really bad Cedar Point news. While the opening of the Maverick was to be the top news to help boost ticket sales, the Magnum accident played more in the news today. On the channels I watched today the Magnum story was covered in detail, but the Maverick opening played in a 15 second blip.
