Memorial Day at Cedar Point

What a great day for a visit to Cedar Point. The Maverick was in top form again today. The 3000 shirt and 500 fleece give aways boosted early morning riding. At 9:20am this morning the line was all the way out the ride queue and all the way back to the Guessing Game. Train after train of riders were clapping at the end of the ride.

The Magnum re-opened yesterday after its small bump accident this weekend. I didn't spend time over in that area today, but I understand that it's running one train until the others are fixed.

The Cedar Point Hot Summer Lights night show set looks read to go for the up coming opening. Everything seems to be in place and the setup looks the same as last year.

The Aquatic Stadium is dark this year. It appears there will not be a Splash Show, nor does one appear in the live event calendar. The tank looks drained and there is now aluminum siding where the viewing windows used to be at the bottom. Could this spell the final call for the Aquatic Stadium? We will be watching at Cedar Point all season to see if we see anything new going on in that area.

Spent some time in the Cedar Point front games area today. That's Area 1 and Area 2 for you point junkies. I didn't see any guitars hanging up as prizes anymore. If you didn't get one it looks like you might be out of luck. Anyone get a slot machine yet? I'm still trying to get that.

I have to say I couldn't help but notice the smell of charcoal coming the parking lot. Seems the new past time for some folks is grilling behind their cars in the Cedar Point parking lot. I didn't see anyone getting hassled by the Point Security so I'm not really sure this is appropriate. Considering CP has picnic areas with grill I would think your should avoid the risk of doing something stupid in the parking lot.

On a funny note, I got see someone wipe out during the running of the daily Cedar Point bulls this morning. As some folks were rounding the bend near the Iron Dragon the crowed parted enough for one of the runners to slam into a trash can. The can and the runner went skidding. The guy was totally embarrassed. He got up brushed off and fixed the can and went on with his run
