Sorry for the delay in posting some updates. We have hit the mid point of the season and soon things will be ramping up for the fall. So there aren't that many news worthy items until then. We are all waiting for Halloweekends to start. Here are some recent things going on at Cedar Point that maybe of interest to some.
1) A boat ran into one of the sea walls near the entrance to the Cedar Point Marina injuring some aboard. I won't go into the detail because it really is a side issue, people get in car accidents leading into Cedar Point and we don't cover them, but I thought it was worth mentioning.
2) I am not the keeper of any attendance counts, but looking at the parking lot tends to tell you a bunch. Seems the weekday attendance has been pretty low. The parking lots have been filling to the mid-points. As for the cause? The Detroit auto market is in the toliet and jobs worth anything are hard to find could be the cause. I think the parking fee boost was a mistake along with the Cedar Point in park food prices are also really stupid. I'm not a rocket scientist but in my opinion if your attendance is down, milking the folks that do come is going to hurt them next season when those folks opt for some other place.
Moral of the story if your up for a Cedar Point visit, now is a good time. Ride waits should be at a minimum during the week.
3) I have heard some negative comments from guests near me about the number of foreign workers over the past couple. I have seen an increased number of foreign workers in the games area which is probably why its more apparent this season because you communicate directly with them. I personally have had no issues, but some folks have. I wish Cedar Point was able to get enough local employees that they didn't need to bring over foreign workers.
If you have a chance to visit this summer now is a good time. Cedar Point is offering various $8 off deals all over the place from Taco Bell to Pepsi cans. Make sure to grab one before you go to the park. No point in paying full price if you don't have to.
